First Innovation Dialogue on game incubation took place in Hamburg. HWWI organized a round table discussion with game start-ups, support structures for the creative BGI industries, the City of Hamburg, the regional public investment bank and the German Games Industry Association. Mikkel Fledelius Jensen, Managing Director of Game Hub Denmark, presented a holistic approach towards game incubation.

A new publication is online! “Game Hubs – A Brief Analysis” provides an overview of various types of cooperation as a means to strengthen and stimulate the computer games industry.

How can politics better support the local games industry? BGI brought together Berlin administration, game enterprises, associations and education institutions for three network events at the facilities of Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises and Berlin Partner.

1st Innovation Dialogue in Berlin regarding games funding – first of three joint dialogue events regarding the topic by BGZ, State of Berlin and the Berlin games industry.

BGI together with Urban Geography students from the HU Berlin and the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises discussed practical project work in the frame of Interreg and the EU Cohesion Policy, at venues of Berlin Senate Chancellery.

Baltic Game Industry was at the Małopolska Festival of Innovation in Kraków/Poland in a panel discussing whether the „Local game industry can act as generator of social innovations in the region”, Innovation Dialogue by Polish partner Krakow Technology Park.

This year Digital Dragons, one of the biggest game industry events in Central Europe, will also feature the apperance of BGI with an own booth represented by Krakow Technology Park.
We will talk with young indie developers from Poland and abroad, invite them to join our incubation pilots and share their experience with making video games. The conference takes place May 21-22 in Krakow.

Branding Games Capital Berlin unites the Berlin games industry under one roof and strengthens the location internationally

2nd Transnational project meeting in Tartu, hosted by Tartu Science Park and Tartu City Government

Not only was this our first proper project workshop where we discussed our plans for the improvement measures with regards to regional framework conditions for the games industries within the BSR, and for the incubation programmes for game start-ups, most of us had never been to Tartu before.
The meeting was superbly hosted in the fantastic location of the SPARK Demo Centre. After two intensive days, we visited the Tartu Centre for Creative Industries, where we got insights in the fascinating incubation programme for creative industry start-ups.

Kick-off Meeting. The BGI project was officially launched with a gala evening in the impressive “columns hall” of the Berlin Town Hall, hosted by the Berlin Senate Chancellery. The Permanent Secretary for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises Christian Rickerts, was present to welcome the project consortium. The two days’ kick-off sessions following this event marked a successful project start.

Berlin welcomes the participants of the 8th Strategy Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region. We use the opportunity to discuss with innovation activists from all around the Baltic Sea region on a broad range of issues relevant for the Baltic Sea Region, following the intentions of our new project.

5th Strategic Project Development Workshop of the ‘Policy Area Culture’ of the European Union Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region. Being a flagship of PA Culture, we are invited to present ‘Baltic Game Industry’ at the workshop. Both, the policy area coordinators and other projects expressed great interest, opening-up opportunities for further co-operation.
